Wow ... good job. I have been thinking this also as I study for my systematic theology comps at Regent College.
I am arguing the same! The realist approach bolsters clerical authority.
I believe that the nominal approach, unintentionally, creates a slippery slope which renders doctrine obsolete. Instead, the only thing needed in Church is 'truth' (Kung), however truth devoid from universals seems very shaky!
Further: How can the Church guard against heresy if it has no authority?

Luther would roll in his grave if he could see what a living breathing reformation has evolved to.
Erasmus was right when he feared everyone would end up claiming to be "pope", if Luther had his way.

Amen! Read Bouyer's "The Spirit and Forms of Protestantism" for an excellent analysis of how nominalism poisons our faith.

I have also been interested in nominalism and have written about it. If you're interested, check out my blog.

Keep up the good work!

We have to bring back the necktie in the good old "like father like son" tradition. Boys have been given more possibilities to identify themself with their fathers. A new suit, a clean white shirt and a preferably "windsor - tied" necktie make boys feel very happy and proud! Look to a young boys face when his father teaches him "how-to-tie a tie"- a certain form of inauguration to manhood- It gives self-confidence and a natural sense of responsibility! I hope many parents wants to renew this fine tradition again!

Taylor:

I was looking up the Sarum Rite and came upon your blog. Interesting information and insights.

How long were you in ministry in Texas?

Thank you for the more detailed description of an "ephod." I will use it in the Sunday School lesson I will teach next Sunday.
It seems David wore one of these when he was bringing the ark to Jerusalem and I assumed the class members were as ignorant as I was concerning an ephod. Now we will all know.
Thank you.
